Eight Acre Paddock

glenburn

One & a half hours North east of Melbourne

For many thousands of years the Taungurung people inhabited the Glenburn and Kinglake area and their connection to the land remains and will remain, extremely important. You can find out more about the traditional owners of Victoria here.

European settlers moved into the Glenburn area in the 1840’s and began using it for logging and agriculture. Eight Acre Paddock was a part of a greater 300 acres up until 1989 when it was subdivided into smaller parcels of land.

Our house and the surrounding area, where the Guesthouse is located, was colloquially known as the Eight Acres for generations, to help the farmers know which paddock to move their cattle into.

In 1992, my husband John began building our PER Architects designed post and beam American Barn influenced house on the parcel that is the Eight Acre Paddock.

In 2016 we opened our Guesthouse to visitors and have happily hosted guests from across Australia and the globe.

My favourite part of our 40 acres is the creek (Island Creek) which borders our entire property. Watching the sun setting over the paddocks is truly beautiful. If you are lucky you might see one of the local platypus in the creek or a koala up a tree.

Glenburn is rural and beautiful.

Come and stay, it’s quiet here.
